Plein Air Watercolors & Pastels of Coastal Light and Memory

For 50 years I've worked on location — watercolor, pastel, acrylics, freehand sketch and more — chasing the raw, atmospheric feeling of a place before the light changes: coastal scenery, historic architecture, and the people who pass through both.

That instinct for what a moment is really about, underneath its surface, comes from the same place my other work does — 50 years as a licensed therapist reading people, and as a writer building character. Painting is where that attentiveness becomes purely visual.
